We’ve been doing this challenge for over a year now. That is a lot of journaling!!

This week’s challenge is to show us how much journaling can you fit on one page.  At *least* half of your whole layout must be journaling this week! Does that sound scary?? It *is* a challenge, you know. So…dig out some pictures that make you want to ramble on and on. Lay it all out on the line for us!

In continued celebration of our first year of journaling challenges, we have another guest challenger–Christyn or akscrappea. Here’s her challenge for us this week:

Over the years, I’ve come to find that music is a vital part of my creative process and really, life in general. This week I chose to revisit the song lyrics challenge…but with a little twist.. Country music fans will know the Trisha Yearwood song “The Song Remembers When” (even if you’re not a country fan, it’s worth checking out), the song talks about hearing a song on a radio and being taken back to particular place and time that may have been forgotton in the rush of day to day life. That’s this week’s challenge…pick a song and journal about the memories it brings to mind.

We all ended up pulling out old photos for this one, I guess that’s the nature of the beast this week! Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Don’t forget to link your layout to the thread on 2Peas or in your comments here. We love seeing how everyone interprets the challenge differently.

“I am the queen of the unfinished challenge! I anxiously await the post each week. I almost always have an idea and vow that I will get my layout done that very day. And then… a week goes by and I have not produced.

But thanks to our wonderful friends at the Journaler’s Junction, we now have a second chance at those wonderfully creative, thought provoking challenges that might have slipped by undone.

I’ve been meaning to go back to Challenge 21: The Branches on Your Tree for weeks (make that months) now. I have a huge family and could do this challenge over and over again. So, whether or not you got yours done the first time, choose a limb from your own tree and get working!”

Happy Anniversary to us! The Journaler’s Junction posted its first challenge a year ago today! And we’ve cooked up some celebration challenges for you all. This week we have a guest challenger–we like to call her “little-ducky”–that’s her screen name at 2Peas.

Here’s her challenge:

Other people say, “It’s raining cats and dogs!” But we say, “The dogs are in the tub!” Our family’s language is filled with personalized phrases. Our son, age 5, waits for his hot food to “warm down”; We have integrated some of his phrases (Dylanisms) into our family lingo so that we have to think twice when we’re out in public in case we accidentally use a Dylanism.
Does your family have its own language? Either mangled words that you’ve made your own (My dad calls strawberries “strangleberries”, no idea why), quotes that you have appropriated from movies or TV (You can dance… You can look at your pants!” –Homer Simpson), or a saying you grew up with, only to find out that no one else has ever heard of it and has no idea what you’re talking about? Heh.
Family code, secret language, private jokes, substituted words (like your sweet old aunt saying “Sugar!” instead of another word that starts the same), nicknames? You could make a vocabulary list, or focus on one phrase or word.
