You Might Have Noticed

Friday, June 5th, 2009

We are taking a little break from the Journaler’s Junction. But we’ve been talking and coming up with a few ideas that are going to make the challenge serve you and us better. So please don’t forget us. We’ll be gone a bit longer.

#114: Rewrite History

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Come on, admit it….sometimes you wish you could rewrite history. Things don’t always go the way we planned, right? And sometimes a photo only tells part of the story.

So your challenge this week is to make up the other half. Maybe something went not quite the way you wanted it to. Use your journaling to share what would have happened in the perfect world, where everyone is on time, the weather is perfect and kids don’t get grass stains on their good clothes.

We look forward to seeing your layouts!

Challenge #106–My BFF

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Everyone’s got one, right?? Your best girl friend, your husband, your stuffed animal from elementary school… We want to hear about your BFF!

Many, many thanks to Vivian Masket for enduring the line and the hoopla with me and also for taking pictures. She’s hot! (said in my best Paris Hilton voice…)

#105: That’s so cliche!

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

You know, if you ask me, cliches get a bad rap. Sure, they’re overused but sometimes truer words were never spoken. My grandma was always a big fan of saying “You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.” Now, I’ ve never actually wanted to catch flies, but once I figured out what she really meant was a little bit of kindness can go a long way, I decided my grandma was pretty darn smart!

So, this week’s challenge is to find a cliche that’s applies to your life, good or bad. And if your grandma didn’t supply you with enough cliches to get you started here’s a link to help you out, courtesy of Suzy:

#102 You do. He did. I will. They will. She did?

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Our first challenge of the year might remind you of school. We are going to play around with verb tenses and pronouns. Look at the illustration below. Your birth month (January = 1, February = 2, etc) is the green number.

Don’t fret! If yours is too hard or not inspiring, just choose another one. I won’t tattle to your English teacher!

I (little-ducky) was born in March, so I get #3: Third Person, Past Tense. Here’s my layout with my chronically crooked handwriting.

I asked Stephanie Howell to design a page for this challenge. She got #8: You in the Future

Emily’s a November birthday, using imperative:

Challenge #101–Holiday Edition

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

Sorry I’m so late, ladies! I kept thinking that I would have time to do my page and it’s just not happening. oy. But here’s the good news… We will have until January 6th to do this challenge! (Of course you know there *really* is no deadline, but I know it works for some people. ) So, here it is….

Your challenge this week…dig deep. I want to hear about your most profound holiday memory. You know. The one that you will never forget because it moved you that much. Yeah, I know…it’s another “tissue challenge.” lol! But we’ve got to have those every once in a while.

I’ve got my journaling almost planned out in my head. I am pretty sure I have a picture somewhere, I just need to find it. If I can, you girls will get a peek at my 11 year old self. *wink*

Happy holidays everyone!

#100: Just One…

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

A lot can happen in 365 (or in the case of this year 366) days. It’s possible you took thousands of photos this year. If you’re a faithful scrapper, you may have hundreds of new layouts in your album. With all that’s happened, it may not seem possible to capture 2008 in one layout.

But this week we’re taking on that challenge. 2008 in one layout. And just to make things really interesting, how about 2008 in just one word? As you look back on another year gone by, what one word sums it all up? Make that word your title, and use your journaling to fill in the rest of the story.

Here’s what we came up with:

#97 reducks. I mean, redux

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

howdy, little ducky here.

this week’s challenge is for everyone–whether you’re a seasoned “I own all the autumn leaves books” scrapper, or the chronological “I’ll never get caught up” scrapper, or maybe the artsy “I don’t care because I just scrap my dog” scrapper…

it’s time to go through your OLD layouts and either add journaling to one that needs it (no redesigning allowed) or do a follow-up page to continue the story (please please show us your old page too).

I chose a rather painful subject: my re-weight gain.
here’s my old page from 2004 and my new page:

here’s miss emily’s. aren’t we glad she didn’t stop for good?

Here’s Suzy’s. She choose to add journaling to an old page that was sorely lacking it!

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Good morning everyone!

As some of you already know, our Journaler’s Junction blog was featured this month in Scrap Street Magazine online! Click on “Blog Bay” to see our article. And make sure you click on the 23/24 page link to see the second page also! We were so excited to be asked to be a part of this issue!

Our theme for this challenge is a little Ali-esque. Your prompt is “Today…” We all took the challenge and ran in different directions. And we can’t wait to see what you do with it!

#95 It was a dark and stormy night…

Did I scare you?

In honor of Halloween this week, we’re exploring the thing that scare us, or creep us out. From spiders to heights to monsters under the bed, chances are we all have something that makes us a little uncomfortable. This week’s challenge is to find a way to capture your fears in a layout.

We’ll all be back to share our fears!
