Challenge #101–Holiday Edition

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

Sorry I’m so late, ladies! I kept thinking that I would have time to do my page and it’s just not happening. oy. But here’s the good news… We will have until January 6th to do this challenge! (Of course you know there *really* is no deadline, but I know it works for some people. ) So, here it is….

Your challenge this week…dig deep. I want to hear about your most profound holiday memory. You know. The one that you will never forget because it moved you that much. Yeah, I know…it’s another “tissue challenge.” lol! But we’ve got to have those every once in a while.

I’ve got my journaling almost planned out in my head. I am pretty sure I have a picture somewhere, I just need to find it. If I can, you girls will get a peek at my 11 year old self. *wink*

Happy holidays everyone!

#100: Just One…

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

A lot can happen in 365 (or in the case of this year 366) days. It’s possible you took thousands of photos this year. If you’re a faithful scrapper, you may have hundreds of new layouts in your album. With all that’s happened, it may not seem possible to capture 2008 in one layout.

But this week we’re taking on that challenge. 2008 in one layout. And just to make things really interesting, how about 2008 in just one word? As you look back on another year gone by, what one word sums it all up? Make that word your title, and use your journaling to fill in the rest of the story.

Here’s what we came up with:

#99: You’re out of line!

Monday, December 8th, 2008

This fall I’ve been taking Cathy Zielske’s Design Your Life class over at Big Picture Scrapbooking. It’s been a great opportunity for me to learn about the elements of design and how to make them work for my scrapbook layouts. Plus, Cathy’s really cool and funny and makes a darn good bowl of chicken chili!

And while I love her style and her layouts are always eye-catching with funny, touching and well-composed journaling, she’s all about the straight lines. It’s the basis of all that is good in design and I can appreciate the principles that support that.

Sometimes I just need to tilt something! It may not be rational, but it’s fun and I’m pretty sure that Cathy would agree that’s what it’s all about.

So my challenge to you is to put your journaling on a tilt.  Just because. :)

Here’s mine (and while the tilty words are technically not my own, making the photos fit in on those angles was surprisingly hard for this former mathematics intsructor, so I say it counts!):

#98 Word Play

Monday, December 1st, 2008

I apologize. I forgot to do the blog post for the 18th. It was my challenge and I totally spaced putting it up here. And tomorrow is a brand new one. So add this to your list of things to do…

I got this catalog in the mail, and it looked like such a fun thing to do, word-wise. We did a joint challenge with the Pub Ad Inspiration over at Two Peas. I just liked how the words went into each other in a funky way. I still haven’t done my version, but little ducky and suzy have done theirs, see below.
